My Lunch Date.....

Zoe and I went on a lunch date at the park today. In usual Zoe fashion she did not want to eat, but just play on the slides! I didn't have a real camera (I felt incomplete!) so I had to use my camera phone, sorry for the poor quality!

Enjoy!

Gettin' Grown......

As a follow up to yesterdays post, I pulled a few of my old music photos to show how influenced I was by B+. Makes me want to go photograph some musicians!

Enjoy!

When I grow Up I Want To Be......

B+, no not that horrible pop singer (or was that Vitamin C?!?) but B+ the photographer. When I was first developing my photographic style, I used to buy tons of magazines and newspapers looking for styles, composition and trends. Being a self-taught photographer up to that point, I most identified with one photographer who had a dirty, dark, blurry, almost sloppy style, and it was so good in my opinion! B+ (real name Brian Cross) shoots a lot of underground hip-hop bands (a subject I love to shoot!) and if you are a fan of Jurassic 5, Ozomatli, or Dilated Peoples, then you have seen his work. If not here are a few examples.

I love how real his photos are. Lighting rules (for that matter all rules) are right out the window. Shadows overpower most of his work and it's just like being in the photo. To me you get real sense of reality in his photos. I also love how this man just refuses to believe that an electronic flash should ever be used!

If you have ever met an underground hip-hop artist, you know they have this incredible passion for their art and B+ captures it perfectly. If one photographer has helped to inspire me it is B+. You can check out more of his work at http://www.mochilla.com/bplus/index.htm

Now you may be asking who inspires me for weddings, well B+ for one, but there are others I love. I will save their names for a later post! Question of the day: who inspires you?

Cari & Mike's Engagement Session

Yesterday I shot Mike & Cari's engagement session in Claremont CA. I had a surprise treat in that Marlene actually went with me! I am so happy she did because we had such a great time with Mike & Cari. They are so much like us and we were just laughing the whole time. I was surprised that I actually got one serious shot of the two of them! Below are some early glimpses of the photos, minus the pink elephant. If you know Mike, ask him to explain. I would post the shot, but I couldn't get a model release from the elephant. In all seriousness though, they did awesome!

They even had really great shoes!
